After visiting four Ohio recruits on Thursday, recruiting coordinator/tight ends coach Alex Golesh continued his Ohio road trip on Friday with three more visits to 2015 recruits. The three Ohio recruits that received a visit from Golesh were defensive tackle Kraig Howe, offensive tackle Noah Listermann, and defensive tackle Jordan Thompson.
Among the three recruits, the Illinois Fighting Illini have the best chance of landing Listermann. The Cincinnati native is showing heavy interest in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan State. Yes, the recruiting experts are predicting him to commit to MSU, but Illinois is still in the hunt.
However, Howe and Thompson are a different story. Howe is heavily interested in two teams while Thompson is heavily interested in three teams. One Big Ten team that is in both recruits’ favored teams is the Northwestern Wildcats.
That fact alone should provide the motivation needed to land both Ohio recruits.
All three recruits would be nice pickups for Tim Beckman and company, but Howe and Thompson should be at the top of the list. This is because Illinois needs to improve their defense in the upcoming future.
Last season was pathetic for the Illini defense as most of the running backs in the conference had their way with Illinois. By adding either Howe or Thompson (if not both), the Illinois defense would get a huge boost, especially on the defensive line.
