Illinois Fighting Illini Football Recruiting: Russell Ude Receives Visit from Illinois

On Wednesday, Illinois’ outside linebackers coach Al Seamonson traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to visit with 2015 recruit Russell Ude. Ude is one of the Top 20 strong-side defensive tackles and one of the Top 50 Georgia recruits from the Class of 2015.

Ude has been on the radar of several football programs from across the nation as he currently holds offers from 24 teams.

Although he hasn’t named any leaders at this point, there are two teams that experts are predicting to gain Ude’s commitment come National Signing Day in 2015.

Those two teams would be Stanford and Oregon. Currently, the majority of the recruiting experts on the 247Sports Crystal Ball favor the Atlanta native picking the Cardinal over the Ducks (and Illini) come NSD.

It’d be a complete understatement to say that Russell Ude would be a huge commitment for the Fighting Illini. Last season, the Illini defense did not perform very well as their front four got ran over by almost every team in the Big Ten.

Ude is a player that could add some size and force to the Illinois defensive line and put them in a much better state.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 33rd in the state of Georgia, 16th among strong-side defensive ends, and 318th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
