Illinois Fighting Illini Football Recruiting: Isaac James Receives Offer From the Fighting Illini

On Wednesday, Tim Beckman and company extended an offer to 2015 athlete Isaac James. James is one of the Top 20 recruits from the state of Indiana.

Illinois is just the seventh team and second Big Ten team to offer at James. So far, the Carmel athlete has offers from Illinois, Army, Ball State, Indiana, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Navy.

Right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball doesn’t have Isaac James leaving the state of Indiana. All three of the experts (even Illini247′s Derek Piper) are predicting the Carmel recruit to give his verbal to the Indiana Hoosiers.

In high school, James has played more than just one single position. He’s played quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back, and kick returner at Carmel High School.

It looks like Illinois will be recruiting James as a defensive back. Illinois brought in a handful of receivers last recruiting class. Also, defensive coordinator Tim Banks is listed as the primary recruiter for the 2015 Indiana recruit.

According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Isaac James had this to say when asked about the Fighting Illini:

“Good coaches, they’re good people and know what kind of players they want for the team. It was a really nice campus. I was really impressed.”

James visited Illinois on March 8th. He is scheduled to visit the Virginia Tech Hokies on July 14th.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 19th in the state of Indiana, 100th among athletes, and 1,176th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
