Honorable Mention: Rayvonte Rice Makes a Name For Himself Against UNLV

At the beginning of the year, Rayvonte Rice was not a household name for Illini fans, but was quickly getting on the good side of many of the Illini faithful.

The game that could have been seen as Rice’s “coming out party” was the team’s first road game of the season against UNLV.

It was a close game throughout and Rice sunk the would-be game-winning layup with just under 30 seconds left in the game. Rice also showed some tough defense of UNLV’s potential game-tying possession to give Illinois the victory, 61-59.

Rice finished the game with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals.
