The Illinois Fighting Illini continue to work hard on their 2015 recruiting class by targeting some of the top talent from across the country. This time, Tim Beckman and company did so by extending an offer to wide receiver Felton Davis III. Davis III is one of the Top 100 WRs from the 2015 class and one of the Top 25 recruits from the state of Virginia.
Illinois is just the ninth team and second Big Ten team to offer at Davis. So far, the Highland Springs wide receiver has offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, East Carolina, James Madison, Marshall, Old Dominion, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball doesn’t have Felton Davis III leaving the state of Virginia. All eight of the experts are predicting the Virginia recruit to give his verbal to the Virginia Tech Hokies.
At 6’3″, 175 pounds, Davis III demonstrates pretty good size for the wide receiver position and is also very agile in which he uses to rack up tons of yards after the catch. He’s also very well-rounded when it comes to his hands, ball skills, route running, and his ability to change directions.
The only question mark with Felton Davis is his overall speed. He might be an agile receiver, but does not contain the top speed to blow opponents away.
The three-star recruit is currently ranked 24th in the state of Virginia, 64th among wide receivers, and 551st among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
