On Wednesday, head coach John Groce and assistant coach Dustin Ford made the 1,025 mile trip from Champaign, Illinois to Northfield, Massachusetts for a visit with 2015 power forward Josh Sharma. Sharma is the 2nd best ’15 recruit from the state of Massachusetts.
Sharma has been on the radar of several basketball programs from across the nation as he currently holds offers from 12 teams.
However, the three teams receiving heavy interest from the Massachusetts power forward are Wisconsin, Illinois, and Harvard (no offer). Among the three, the Badgers seem to be the early “leader” in his recruitment.
Currently, the majority of the recruiting experts on the 247Sports Crystal Ball favor Sharma picking the Badgers when it’s all said and done.
Although listed as a power forward, Josh Sharma would work perfectly at the center position for any basketball program. He stands tall at 6’11” and packs a powerful punch with his dunks.
When it comes to the Illini Big Men, none of them really pack a punch around the tin on offense and it looks like Coach Groce is aware of this. That might be way he is looking to add a bit of offensive explosion to the team for the near future.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Massachusetts, 19th among power forwards, and 75th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
