The ninth National Letter of Intent to arrive in the Fighting Illini football offices today belonged to none other than Matt Domer of Mt. Carmel High School.

Domer is rated as a 3 star recruit by ESPN, Scout, Rivals, and 247Sports, and with good reason. On film he shows enough burst to get to the edge, and he also has the ability to run between the tackles, picking and finding gaps and creases along the way, which is nice because it gives him the chance to be a three down back as his collegiate career progresses. As a result of this type of versatility, he has been ranked as the #24 best player in the state of Illinois by ESPN, and the #22 best player in the state of Illinois by Scout. Furthermore, Scout lists him as the #24 best running back in the entire nation.
Domer rushed for 1,467 yards on 185 carries, and also showcased some versatility while hauling in 7 passes for 170 yards. He finished the season with 16 rushing touchdowns, 1 receiving touchdown, and 1 kickoff return touchdown. All that production led to a handful of awards along the way. He also was an important cog in Mount Carmel’s back to back state championship teams the past two seasons.
Here are all of the awards that have been bestowed upon Domer as a result of his production during his senior year.
- First-team IHSFCA All-State
- Northwest Indiana Times Offensive Player of the Year
- Catholic League Blue Lawless Award Winner (POY)
