Just one day after extending offers to eight recruits from the Class of 2015, the Illinois Fighting Illini hit the recruiting trails again by sending an offer to 2016 outside linebacker Tuf Borland.
The Fighting Illini are the first team to offer at Borland. However, Purdue and Wisconsin seem to have some interest from the Illinois native as well.
It will be interesting to see how big of a role Borland’s family will play in his recruitment. If there’s any team that might be a favorite among family members, it would be the Wisconsin Badgers. Borland’s father, Kyle Borland, played his college career at Wisconsin and his uncle is the defensive coordinator at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Borland’s coach at Bolingbrook High School John Ivlow believes that it won’t be very long until the 2016 linebacker sees the offers come rolling in.
Ivlow also thinks very highly of Tuf Borland. When asked about Borland by 247Sports, the Bolingbrook head coach said:
He’s a smart kid, smart football player and he has size, speed and strength. He knows exactly what’s going on. He knows where everyone is supposed to line up on both sides of the ball. He’s a student of the game.
Bolingbrook has had a ton of talent pass through their halls from Robert Bain (2012) to Antonio Morrison (2012) to Aaron Bailey (2013). Tuf Borland will most likely be the next big name to come out of Bolingbrook High School, and it would be very nice to see his verbally commit to the Orange and Blue.
