Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball: Illinois vs. #4 Michigan State Plays of the Game (GIFs & Poll)

The Illinois Fighting Illini took a 16 point beating at the hands of the #4 team in the country in their last appearance on the hardwood, but they didn’t go down without a fight. Over the course of the game there were several plays that deserve a second look.

Luckily for Illinois fans web-wide, Dan at Illinois Loyalty put together some animated gif’s so that everyone that might have missed these plays live can get a second chance to see them.

We, at Writing Illini, are curious which one you liked the best. So, please take time to vote in the poll below after watching each choice!

Without any further ado, here are the nominees for plays of the game versus the Northwestern Wildcats from yesterday’s game.

Groce Loses His Cool…and His Jacket

While John Groce losing his cool probably echoes most Illini fans feelings with the current 4 game skid, it was the Simeon rookies who made this game their personal playground. Kendrick Nunn showcased passing, defense, and a sweet spin move for the finish, and Jaylon Tate decided to bust out a spin move of his own. Sorry, Jon Ekey, even though your acrobatic finishes were nice my vote from this game is going to go to Kendrick Nunn for his transition block.

The block was a play that was driven by pure intensity and effort. It’s what I want to see out of every Illini player for every minute they are on the court. It was an easy choice for me. Will it be easy for you to pick your favorite?

Once again, thanks to Illinois Loyalty for making these gifs available! Be sure to vote in the poll below, and as always, thanks for reading. I-L-L!
