It was announced Thursday by the University of Illinois that senior linebacker Jonathan Brown accepted an invitation to play in the 2014 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Jan. 25 in Mobile, Alabama.
The Senior Bowl displays the top NFL draft prospects who look to showcase their skills for NFL scouts and coaches. Last year, offensive lineman Hugh Thornton and defensive end Michael Buchanan, played in the Senior Bowl and both were selected in the NFL Draft.
In his final season as a member of the Fighting Illini, Brown lead the team in tackles with 119. His 119 tackles ranked second in the conference and 18th in the nation in tackles. He also recorded 15.0 tackles for loss (4th in the Big Ten and 29th nationally), 5.0 sacks, four pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble.
This year’s Senior Bowl will be played on Saturday, January 25th at 3 p.m. CST and will be televised on the NFL Network. The coaching staffs for the game will be the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach Mike Smith (North team) and Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Gus Bradley (South team).
