With the Illinois Fighting Illini having time off before their next game against Missouri, the Illini coaching staff hit the road to visit some recruits and see them in action. On Tuesday, assistant coach Jamall Walker traveled to Columbia, Missouri to visit 2015 point guard Jimmy Whitt.
The top ranked recruit from the state of Missouri has early offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Creighton Bluejays, and Wichita State Shockers.
Whitt hasn’t received an offer but also is showing interest in the Fighting Illini. However, he is most interested in the Kansas Jayhawks (a team Illini fans are well aware of following Cliff Alexander’s commitment).
Jimmy Whitt is the type of guard that can either kill you with his jumper or his drive to the basket. He’s that player that can create instant offense the second he touches the basketball. His jump shot might not look pretty to many fans, but it gets the job done.
From his game tape, it is easy to see that the Missouri native is not a “pass first” type of point guard.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 1st in the state of Missouri, 26th among point guards, and 96th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
