1) Connor Boehm, So., G: There’s no question that the Big Green offense is led by sophomore guard Connor Boehm in 2013. After averaging 8.7 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game as a starter last year, Boehm is averaging 11.5 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game this season. A big reason for the young guard’s increase in points has to be attributed to his shooting percentage thus far. As a freshman at Dartmouth, Boehm shot .462 from the field, but is shooting .620 from the field in 2013. It is for sure that the Illinois defense will always be aware of where Connor Boehm is on the basketball court.
2) Gabas Maldunas, Jr., F-C: On the boards, the Dartmouth Big Green are led by forward/center Gabas Maldunas. Thus far after six games, the junior big man is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game. Although his rebounding numbers are slightly down from last season, the 6’9″ Maldunas can crash the boards at any moment in any game. He hasn’t amassed double-digit rebounds in a game since November 16th, but still is doing his part for Dartmouth. In the team’s last game against IPFW, Maldunas racked up six rebounds while going 1-of-7 from the field.
3) Alex Mitola, So., G: Yes, Connor Boehm is the leading scorer for the Big Green thus far in 2013, but sophomore guard Alex Mitola can get it done as well. He is right behind Boehm on the team in scoring and averages 11.3 points per game. Just like Boehm, Mitola is shooting much better to begin his sophomore campaign compared to his freshman campaign. Last season, he shot .385 from the field and is shooting better as he is hitting .426 from the field this season. Although the sophomore two-guard is averaging double-digit points per game this year, he only made one shot and only scored three points in the team’s last game against IPFW.
