The Illinois Fighting Illini basketball team came out like a house on fire in this one, and currently lead the Auburn Tigers 41-17.
Illinois has made 7 three point baskets in 13 attempts, including a pair of NBA range 3 pointers by Tracy Abrams who leads all scorers with 11 points. Auburn has yet to make a 3 point basket (0-4), and are shooting a paltry 26.1% from the floor overall.
Illinois has held Auburn’s two leading scorers to a combined 10 points for the game (Harrell has 6, and Denson has 4).
There were quite a few highlight type plays in the first half, but Rayvonte Rice’s reverse layup was by far the most athletic play on display, and everyone needs to see it. Thanks to Dan over at Illinois Loyalty for throwing it together and posting it to the web.
Illinois needs to come out and keep attacking if they want to bring this one home. The Illini can’t afford to go into a shell like the Georgia Tech game just because they have a huge lead at the half.
