Although they did not play in the Big Ten Championship game, the Illinois Fighting Illini did some work of their own this weekend as the team hosted a total of twelve high school recruits from the Class of 2014 for official visits.
The twelve recruits that made the official visit to Illinois were WR Sanford Seay, QB Chayce Crouch, OLB Daniel Appouh, WR Malik Turner, C Nick Allegretti, TE Jordan Frazier, OT Peter Cvijanovic, ILB Austin Roberts, ILB Henry McGrew, RB Julian Hylton, WR Mike Dudek, and WR Steve Ishmael.
Among the twelve visiting recruits, nine have given head coach Tim Beckman and the Fighting Illini their verbal commitment. These recruits include: Crouch, Turner, Allegretti, Frazier, Cvijanovic, Roberts, McGrew, Hylton, and Dudek.
That means the only recruits visiting this weekend that have yet to commit were Seay, Appouh, and Ishmael. However, all three recruits show heavy interest in the Fighting Illini.
Illinois is currently the only school to have offered at Daniel Appouh, but Seay and Ishmael have other schools that they are interested in as well.
Seay is also interested in Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, and Southern Miss while Ishmael is also interested in Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Wake Forest.
Illinois needs to make a strong showing for these three recruits to try and sway them towards the Orange & Blue. However, that cannot be Illinois’ only focus. As for the nine commits visiting, the Illini staff needs to prove to them that they have made the right decision in committing to the team.
