With his college decision just two weeks away, head coach John Groce and assistant coach Paris Parham made another visit to Chicago native Cliff Alexander in order to sway the Curie power forward in to joining the Orange & Blue.
On October 8th, Alexander announced that his top 5 would consist of the Kansas Jayhawks, Illinois Fighting Illini, Memphis Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, and DePaul Blue Demons.
Since then, the two most active teams when it comes to Alexander’s recruitment have been Memphis and Illinois. The Chicago native has officially visited both schools, and each of the two schools have sent their coaches to visit him.
No doubt, Cliff Alexander would a huge commitment for coach Groce and the Fighting Illini. However, many recruiting experts see the Illini as a distant second in the race for Cliff Alexander.
Right now, 71% of the recruiting experts on the 247Sports Crystal Ball are predicting Alexander to commit to the Jayhawks with 16% predicting Illinois.
Cliff Alexander can do anything on the basketball court. He can rebound, score, and defend. On top of that, he contains great size and athleticism and uses that to his advantage in the low post.
The five-star recruit is currently ranked 1st in the state of Illinois, 1st among power forwards, and 3rd among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
