Illinois Football: Live Thread For Wisconsin Game

There are 60,670 seats at Memorial Stadium. Every home game, Illini faithful fill the stands to be part of the “home game” experience. They hi-five with fellow fans when it goes right and console each other when it goes wrong. For the rest of us not in attendance, we do it virtually. Here. Welcome to the Illinois Fighting Illini Live Game Thread.

After their first conference loss of the season, the Illinois Fighting Illini find themselves playing another game under the prime time lights. This week, they host the #25 Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers come to Champaign with a record of 4-2 and completely rolled the Northwestern Wildcats last week. Nathan Scheelhaase and company will be gearing up for this big time game and will look to give Tim Beckman his first Big Ten win since becoming the team’s head coach.

For those of us watching at home, we have the Live Thread. Discuss every play, in real time, as it happens with your favorite Writing Illini writers and fellow Illini fans.

If you can’t make it to the game in person, this is the place to be.

Scroll down to join the action.

Enjoy the game, and GO ILLINI!

      Can’t wait! Go Illini!

  • Ricky Widmer

Can’t have penalties like that early in the game. Not when the Illini offense is trying to build momentum.

  • Rees Woodcock

Agreed, that was an ugly first drive. We gotta stop Gordon.

    • Ricky Widmer

I’ll be honest. I’m scared to see how Wisconsin’s offense will come out on their first drive.

  • Rees Woodcock

    Gordon=assassin

    • Ricky Widmer

      That’s what I was scared of…

  • Ricky Widmer

Little momentum boost for Illini defense. Need more stops like that one.

    • Rees Woodcock

      Melvin strikes again.

      • Ricky Widmer

        Sigh…This one could be ugly.

  • Ricky Widmer

Exactly what they said on TV…Going from bad to worse…sigh

  • Rees Woodcock

Scheelhaase has to show something. The coaches have to be thinking pull him after that fumble.

    • Ricky Widmer

I wouldn’t mind seeing Aaron Bailey.

  • Ricky Widmer

Luckily for Illinois, Joel Stave is not very accurate with his passes on that last drive. Need to get something going on this offensive drive. Agree with TV guys…Illini seem “jittery.”

    • Rees Woodcock

Very jittery. Their confidence is shot, but coming back this drive. 1st and 10!

      • Ricky Widmer

This is the Illini team I expected to see on drive #1.

  • Rees Woodcock

I love the current drive but this team feels very similar to the teams in the past. Very little pop and too much dink and dunk plays.

    • Ricky Widmer

Yes, but you need dink and dunks to build confidence.

      • Ricky Widmer

Dink and dunks set up what you just saw…FINALLY!

        • Rees Woodcock

          Very true

Need to hold them to a field goal.

      Yea…..no :(
