On Monday, a pair of Illini earned awards for their individual performances against the RedHawks this past Saturday during the Illini’s 50-14 win.

Aaron Bailey earned his very first Freshman of the Week award from the Big Ten Conference as he rushed for 56 yards and 1 TD. Bailey has played in each of the Illini’s first 4 games, and he has rushed for 3 TD on a mere 12 attempts. (source)

Inside Linebacker Coach Mike Ward weighed in with his thoughts on twitter.

Matt LaCosse was recognized by collegefootballperformance.com as the National Tight End of the Week with his all around solid game in which he caught 3 passes for 68 yards including a pair of TDs. LaCosse also pitched in on special teams by recovering the surprising 2nd quarter onside kick. (source)

Coach Ward once again weighed in with his thoughts on twitter, as did Tight Ends Coach Alex Golesh.

I think there is little doubt this is the first of many awards to come for both of these talented offensive weapons. Congratulations are in order for both of them. I-L-L!
