Illinois v.s. Miami (OH): Illini Lead RedHawks 7-0 After 1st Quarter

Mandatory Credit: Bradley Leeb-USA TODAY Sports

After a much needed bye week, the Illinois Fighting Illini are back in action today against the Mami (OH) RedHawks, and the Illini lead the RedHawks 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Illinois recived the ball first to start the game and did not dissappoint Illini faithful. They started on their own 25 yard line and drove down the length of the field to score a touchdown on a 2 yard pass from Nathan Scheelhaase to Matt LaCosse.

However, that would be the only points from either team in the first.

Miami (OH) would have two more drives in the quarter. They would punt the ball both times after just getting past the 50 yard line to get into Illini territory.

Illinois would have two more drives of their own. Their second drive of the game ended after Miami (OH)’s Brison Burris intercepted a Nathan Scheelhaase pass on the Miami (OH) 4 yard line.

The Illini would continue their third drive of the game in the second quarter.
