Junior forward Jannelle Flaws was named the Big Ten Offensive player of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Flaws started both the Illinois’ two matches this week, and played a total of 109 minutes. In the two matches, the first a 6-2 victory over College of Charleston and the second a 5-1 win against Illinois State, Flaws racked up a total of four goals.

Flaws scored three goals in the match against ISU which made her the first Illini to record a hat trick since Niki Read against Ball State on Aug. 26, 2011.

Jannelle Flaws has been an offensive powerhouse for the Illini so far this season. She leads the team with five goals on the year, which also is tied for first in the Big Ten.

According to fightingillini.com, “she has accounted for nearly a third of Illinois’ 17 goals, the most in the Big Ten through four games.”

Flaws is the first Illini to be named Offensive Player of the Week since Vanessa DiBernardo was named Offensive POTW on Oct. 29, 2012.

The Illini’s next game is this Friday against Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona for the Sun Devil Classic. After facing off against ASU on Friday, the Fighting Illini will play the Arizona Wildcats on Sunday.
