The Illinois Fighting Illini begin the 2013 season on August 31st. Illinois will open up their season at home against the Southern Illinois Salukis after winning only two games a year ago. This week, Writing Illini got to sit down with Illinois wide receiver Steve Hull to ask him some questions about the Illini’s week one game.
Rees Woodcock: What is the atmosphere of the team heading into the new season? How have you guy’s used last season to prepare for this season?
Steve Hull: It’s all positive. We are entering this year extremely positive and upbeat. Last year was extremely disappointing and frustrating, and we have definitely used those feelings and pain of 2-10 to motivate a new environment.
Rees: What is the main focus of the team heading into Saturday against SIU?
Steve: The main focus is taking it one play at a time, with great focus and discipline. Play every play at 100% effort and be precise in our jobs.
Rees: What are the team goals and expectations for 2013?
Steve: Team goals for this year are to take it one week at a time. Not to get caught up in outside distractions, but stay on the path to win games. Play each play like it’s our last and to play with great discipline and stick to our assignments. If we play with great accountability to one another, we will be successful.
