On November 9th, the Illinois Fighting Illini could very well be playing a game that will decide who finishes last in the Big Ten – Leaders this season. Last year, Indiana won only two Big Ten games (which was two more than Illinois). Indiana’s head coach Kevin Wilson is looking to improve their record this season, but how much better can the Hoosiers do in 2013?
2012 Record: 4-8 (2-6 in the Big Ten)
Key Losses: DT Adam Replogle, DT Larry Black
Key Returners: QB Cameron Coffman, RB Stephen Houston, QB Tre Roberson, WR Cody Latimer, WR Shane Wynn, S Greg Heban
Players to Watch: QB Tre Roberson
It will be interesting to see who will be Indiana’s starting quarterback in 2013 because the Hoosiers have three quarterbacks to choose from. Last year as a redshirt freshman, Tre Roberson was the starting QB for the Hoosiers to start the season, but was injured in Week 2 and never played again in 2012. If he did it last season, there is no reason why head coach Kevin Wilson wouldn’t name Roberson his starter for this season. If Roberson is the starter for Indiana on November 9th against Illinois, we will see a totally different game than we did in 2012.
Prediction: Indiana 28 – Illinois 20
There is a good chance that Illini and Hoosier fans see a much different game than they saw last season. I’d put my money on Tre Roberson being the starting quarterback for Indiana, but it will depend on if he can stay injury-free in 2013. For Illinois, they will be displaying the new Bill Cubit offensive system, but will Scheelhaase stay healthy for the November 9th game? If Scheelhaase and Roberson are both the starting quarterbacks, we will see a closer game. However, the game’s result will be the same.
