Illinois Football Recruiting: Tre Watson Visits Fighting Illini

On Tuesday, 2014 outside linebacker Tre Watson made a trip to Champaign to unofficially visit the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Tampa, FL native is one of the Top 250 Florida recruits from the Class of 2014.

So far, Watson has received other offers from the Air Force Falcons, Eastern Michigan Eagles, Florida International Panthers, Florida Atlantic Owls, Furman Paladins, Georgia State Panthers, Holy Cross Crusaders, Illinois Fighting Illini, Massachusetts Minutemen, Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, South Florida Bulls, and Central Florida Knights.

Right now, Illinois seems to be the favorite among the recruiting experts because all the experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball has the Fighting Illini as the predicted landing spot for the Florida native.

Watson would be a tremendous pickup for Tim Beckman and the Fighting Illini.

The young OLB can either rush from the outside or drop back into coverage.

He’s got the speed that would work at Illinois when rushing the passer.

On top of his rushing ability, Watson can also play well in space as he is an exceptional zone coverage linebacker.

The two-star recruit is currently ranked 247th in the state of Florida and 115th among outside linebackers by 247Sports.
