Illinois Football Recruiting: Geronimo Allison Picks Fighting Illini

After landing the 2nd best JUCO wide receiver earlier this week, the Illinois Fighting Illini landed yet another JUCO athlete as 2014 wide receiver Geronimo Allison gave the Illini his verbal commitment. Allison is among the top 5 recruits from the state of Iowa and is ranked 66th on 247 Sports.

The other teams that offered at Allison, but did not get his commitment were the Florida Atlantic Owls, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas State Wildcats, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Ohio Bobcats, and Utah State Aggies.

Just like Tyrin Stone-Davis, Allison’s commitment describes the exact kind of recruiting that head coach Tim Beckman talked about Wednesday at the 2013 Big Ten Media Days.

Illinois added five JUCO recruits from the Class of 2013 and is planning on doing that same with the 2014 class to add depth.

In 2012, Geronimo Allison recorded 428 receiving yards on 26 receptions and two touchdowns.

Allison’s commitment is No. 11 overall for the Fighting Illini and and moves their class to 53rd overall in the 247 Sports class rankings.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 3rd in the state of Iowa, 11th among wide receivers, and 66th among 2014 JUCO recruits by 247Sports.
