Although he hasn’t received an offer from Illinois, 2015 small forward Joseph Toye was in Champaign on Tuesday for an unofficial visit with the Fighting Illini.
Toye is ranked in the Top 10 for Illinois recruits and in the Top 20 for small forwards by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
So far, Toye has received offers from the Auburn Tigers, Bradley Braves, Creighton Bluejays, UIC Flames, Providence Friars, Valparaiso Crusaders, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Tuesday’s visit was an important one for the Fighting Illini because of the other teams interested in Toye’s commitment.
The Chicago native is also on the radars of the DePaul Blue Demons, Florida Gators, Iowa Hawkeyes, Northwestern Wildcats, Purdue Boilermakers, and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Joseph Toye’s visit to Illinois was also important because of the fact that he is a Chicago prospect.
In the past, Chicago has produced some great basketball talent and Illinois needs to start cashing in on Chicago’s success. The Illini cannot afford to let a player like Toye commit to another Big Ten team.
