2014 center and Illinois commit Nick Allegretti was nominated to participate in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The Illinois native will join 400 other prospects from the Class of 2014 for the game on January 4th in San Antonio, Texas.
According to the News-Gazette, Allegretti said:
“It’s a pretty cool thing. It’s a huge honor, and there’s been some unbelievable players who have played in it.”
The Lincoln-Way High School starter will be the eighth Illinois commit to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the first one since 2009. The past Illinois commits to play in the game were Justin Green (2009), Reggie Ellis (2008), Arrelious Benn (2007), Martez Wilson (2007), D’Angelo McCray (2007), Rashard Mendenhall (2006), and Cyrus Garrett (2002).
Nick Allegretti committed to the Illinois Fighting Illini on March 11th and is the perfect fit for head coach Tim Beckman’s recruiting philosophy, “Our State, Our Team.”
The three-star recruit is currently ranked 24th in the state of Illinois and 11th among centers by 247Sports.
