Rutgers Football Recruiting: Illinois Offers Gerald Owens

2014 fullback/running back Gerald Owens received an offer from the Illinois Fighting Illini on May 23rd. Owens is one of the top five recruits in the state of New Jersey and one of the top ten running backs. He is also the 75th best recruit in the country.

So far, the teams to have offer at Owens are the Boston College Eagles, Florida State Seminoles, Illinois Fighting Illini, Michigan State Spartans, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, South Carolina Gamecocks, Temple Owls, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Right now, there seems to be no official leader in the race for Owens, but there are predictions about where he could go.

The 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently has Wisconsin as a 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

When looking at his skills, not only does Owens have good vision and explosiveness, but his best skills are his power and tackle breaking ability.

In 2012, Owens ran for 1,705 yards on 210 carries and 26 touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 35 yards and scored one receiving touchdown.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of New Jersey, 9th among running backs, and 75th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
