West Virginia Football Recruiting: Illinois Offers Davonte James

On April 23rd, the Illinois Fighting Illini looked to the state of Ohio as they extended offers to two Ohio recruits from the 2014 class. One of those recruits was Springfield, Ohio native Davonte James.

Davonte James has received offers from the Illinois Fighting Illini, West Virginia Mountaineers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Purdue Boilermakers.

Out of his five offers, the West Virginia Mountaineers seem to be at the top of the pack. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently has WVU as a 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

The best thing about James has got to be his size coming into college. He is a 6’3″, 220 pound inside linebacker. On top of that, he’s also quick, athletic, and has great instincts.

In 2012, James recorded 105 total tackles, one sack, one interception, one fumble recovery, and one defensive touchdown.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 16th in the state of Ohio and 15th among inside linebackers by 247Sports.
