With it almost being a week since the 2013 Illinois Spring Game, the staff of Writing Illini gives their opinions about the performance of the team, but mostly the performance by running back Donovonn Young. Young ran for 86 yards and three touchdowns in the 2013 Spring Game.

Ricky: Donovonn Young put on a show for the Blue team as he scored three total touchdowns. Young seemed to just feel good in the new offensive system. I feel like the run game is the area of the offense that needs to improve the most from last year and, if this is the new direction for the Illinois offense under new offensive coordinator Bill Cubit, then I think this Illinois football team will do better than they did last year.

Austin: I hope Young’s performance was not just a fluke. I would have liked to see more yards out of him. However, I am happy with his scoring production. I loved the three rushing touchdowns, but I was a bit let down by the mere 86 yards.
