Because of the recent inclement weather to hit the state of Illinois on Wednesday, the Fighting Illini’s softball game against the DePaul Blue Demons was cancelled.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at 4:00 p.m. (CST) and, just like the Illinois State game that was cancelled, this game will not be rescheduled.
The Illinois Fighting Illini were coming into Wednesday’s game looking to get back on track. They have lost their last nine games and are 1-13 in their last fourteen games. Illinois was swept by Minnesota in their last series.
On the other hand, the DePaul Blue Demons were coming into the game on the other end of the spectrum. DePaul was looking to bounce back after having their seven game winning streak snapped on April 9th against Illinois State. Both of their last two games have now been cancelled due to inclement weather.
For Illinois, they will be looking to get back to Big Ten Conference play against the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers are currently 19-24 overall and 3-10 in conference play this season. They lost to the Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday in the first game of their scheduled doubleheader (second game was cancelled).
