Even though he is long gone, one of Ron Zook’s best commits for Illinois had to be center Graham Pocic.
Pocic was an exemplary high school athlete and had been one of the most durable Illini in recent memory. He was a three year starter, became a leader on the offensive line, and has long since been one of the anchors on the Illinois offensive line.
Pocic has been there to help guide young players, as well as to help veteran players improve their game.
At 6’7″, Pocic is much taller than the average NFL center. With having to bend at the waist, his height can be seen as a disadvantage to him at his position.
However, one can assume from seeing his ability that Pocic is up to the challenge at the next level. He has shown his ability in the trenches, and has long since been able to compete with the best in the Big Ten Conference.
While many do not project Pocic to go in the first two days of the 2013 NFL Draft, he could be a late day two draft steal for a team needing to get younger at the center position or simply looking for a capable backup that will surely be a force on the offensive line.
