After a quiet March, 2014 safety RaShaan Gaulden received his first offer since February 27th. On April 7th, the Illinois Fighting Illini extended an offer the the four-star safety. Gaulden has an 88 rating on 247 Sports and is the 12th best recruit in the state of Tennessee.
RaShaan Gaulden has received offered from the Tennessee Volunteers, Vanderbilt Commodores, Duke Blue Devils, Illinois Fighting Illini, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisiana-Lafeyette Ragin’ Cajuns, Memphis Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ole Miss Rebels, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
At this point in time, it appears that Tennessee and Vanderbilt are at the head of pack out of Gaulden’s offers. Some people believe it is three team race, but I would say it looks like a two team races right now.
The Fighting Illini will need to do a lot of work if they want to land this 2014 recruit.
After looking at some of Gaulden’s film from his junior year, the biggest thing that jumps out is how much of a hard hitter he is.
He can also use this strength for hitting in his blocking as well. Gaulden blocked on some punt returns and has the ability to punish defenders.
He also has really nice speed off the line when blitzing. If he is untouched, he will get to the quarterback or ball carrier.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 12th in the state of Tennessee and 41st among safeties among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
