Illinois Football Recruiting: Syracuse Offers Enoch Smith Jr.

2014 defensive tackle Enoch Smith Jr. received an offer from the Syracuse Orange on March 8th. This brings his total number of offers to thirteen.

The other teams to have offered at him include: Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee, Toledo, and Western Michigan.

Out of those thirteen offers, it is projected that Smith is heavily interested in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Also, he has not received offers, but is receiving interest from the the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Michigan Wolverines, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Vanderbilt Commodores, and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Smith Jr. is a 6’3″, 270 pound defensive tackle from Chicago, Illinois. He is currently a junior at Mount Carmel High School.

Mount Carmel won the Class 8A Illinois State Championship. They defeated Glenbard North High School, 28-14.

As a junior in 2012, Smith Jr. recorded 41 tackles and 23 tackles-for-loss.

For Illinois, Smith Jr. is being recruited by offensive lines coach, Luke Butkus. He is also being recruited by Chuck Martin of Notre Dame, Mark Hagen of Indiana, Dan Roushar of Michigan State, Steve Stripling of Tennessee, and Jerry Montgomery of Michigan.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 10th in the state of Illinois and 19th among defensive tackles by 247Sports.
