Illinois Football Recruiting: Arkansas Offers Peyton Newell

2014 defensive tackle/tight end Peyton Newell received an offer from the Arkansas Razorbacks on March 1st. This brings his total number of offers to twenty-eight.

The other teams that have offered at Newell include: BYU, West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Colorado, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, TCU, Tulsa, Wisconsin, and UCLA.

It is projected that Newell is heavily interested in the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Also, he has not received offers, but is receiving interest from Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Virginia Tech.

Newell is a 6’3″, 270 pound “iron man,” but is being recruited as an defensive tackle. He is from Hiawatha, Kansas and is currently junior at Hiawatha High School.

The Hiawatha Red Hawks made it to the Kansas State Playoffs (Class 3A) this past season. They lost to Silver Lake High School, 63-26, in the second round.

Newell recorded 61 tackles, 37 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries as a defensive end. He also recorded 162 yards on 14 receptions and three touchdowns as a tight end.

For Illinois, Newell is being recruited by recruiting coordinator, Alex Golesh.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Kansas, 11th among defensive tackles, and 143rd nationally among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
