Illinois Football Recruiting: Kentucky and Ohio Offer Lonnie Johnson

2014 safety/wide receiver Lonnie Johnson received offers from the Kentucky Wildcats and the Ohio Bobcats on February 22nd and February 26th. This brings his total number of offers to six.

The other teams to have offered at him include: Illinois, Ohio State, Bowling Green, and Nebraska.

Out of his six offers, it is projected that Johnson is heavily interested in the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Johnson is a 6’3″, 190 pound wide receiver from Gary, Indiana. He played this past season at West Side High School.

The West Side Cougars made it into the Class 4A Indiana State Playoffs with a 6-5 record. However, they lost in the first round to Highland High School, 41-34.

As a wide receiver this season, Johnson recorded 777 yards on 31 receptions and scored 13 receiving touchdowns. As a safety in 2012, he recorded 29 tackles, six interceptions, and eight pass break-ups. He also earned Junior All-State and Top 33 honors in 2012.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 3rd in the state of Indiana and 37th among safeties by 247Sports.

On top of football, Johnson is a standout in track and field at West Side High School. He finished fifth in the state in long jump with a leap of 22-feet, 3-inches.
