Football Recruiting: Miguel Hermosillo Signs LOI With Illinois

The Illinois Fighting Illini signed their ninth commit on National Signing Day, Miguel Hermosillo. Hermosillo is a three-star recruit by Scout, ESPN and 247 Sports. He is also ranked as the No. 76 athlete in the nation and the No. 28 player in Illinois by 247 Sports.

Hermosillo committed to the Fighting Illini on August 18th, 2012. He officially visited Illinois on January 18th. No matter what, Hermosillo was staying in the state of Illinois. He chose the Illini over Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois. It was recruiting coordinator Alex Golesh who earned Hermosillo’s pledge.

Miguel Hermosillo played his high school ball at Ottawa Township High School in Ottawa, Illinois. The Ottawa Township Pirates made it to the Class 6A Illinois State Playoffs. However, they would lose to eventual state champions Crete-Monee, 6-42, in the quarterfinals. Hermosillo played running back in high school, but was recruited to play wide receiver at Illinois. He was named first-team All-State, and first-team All-Big 12 Conference and Big 12 MVP as a senior.

Out of all fifteen signees for Illinois, Hermosillo was the ninth recruit to fax in his Letter of Intent. He is one of two wide receivers to sign with the Illini on NSD.
