The Illinois Fighting Illini signed their fifth commit on National Signing Day, Bryce Douglas. Douglas is a three-star recruit by Rivals, Scout, ESPN and 247 Sports. He is also ranked No. 17 in the state of Illinois by Scout.
Douglas committed to the Illini on June 22nd, 2012. He chose Illinois over Central Michigan. Linebackers coach, Mike Ward, was the one to earn Douglas’ pledge.
Bryce Douglas played his high school ball at Plainfield Central High School in Plainfield, Illinois. The Plainfield Central Wildcats made it to the Class 7A Illinois State Playoffs, but lost to Lincoln-Way East, 22-47, in the first round. As a senior, he had 58 tackles, 10 quarterback sacks, 22 tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble. He is also a two-time Southwest Prairie Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Out of the twelve signees that Illinois has at this moment, Douglas was the fifth commit to fax in his Letter of Intent. He is one of six defensive lineman to sign with the Illini on NSD.
