The #12 Illinois Fighting Illini will play the Wisconsin Badgers at the Kohl Center on Saturday.
The Fighting Illini are looking to bounce back after losing a very physical game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Wednesday.
Wisconsin is riding a five game win streak coming into Saturday’s game. They are 11-4 overall and are 2-0 in the Big Ten. They defeated Nebraska, 47-41, in their last game.
The Badgers enter the game against Illini with the best turnover margin in the Big Ten. One of the things they do well is cause turnovers more than they commit them.
The three best players for the Badgers are senior Jared Berggren, senior Ryan Evans, and junior Ben Brust. All of these players are the top three in scoring and rebounding for Wisconsin.
Berggren, Evans, and Brust are averaging double-digits this season through 15 games. Berggren leads the team with13.3 points per game this season. The last time he scored single-digits was in the team’s last lost to Marquette on December 8th.
Evans and Brust are second and third in scoring with 11.5 and 11.3 points per game respectively.
When it comes to rebounding, Evans leads the Badgers with 8.0 rebounds per game. In their win over Nebraska, he hauled in 15 rebounds as the Badgers defeated the Cornhuskers.
Brust and Berggren second and third with 6.3 and 6.1 rebounds per game.
This will be 187th meeting between the Fighting Illini and the Badgers. Illinois leads the series 110-77. In their last meeting, Wisconsin defeated Illinois, 70-56.
As its been in every game this season, senior Brandon Paul will be looking for another game with double-digit points. He scored 21 points in the loss to the Golden Gophers.
Paul was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25. This list is made up of the 25 athletes that are the frontrunners for college basketball’s most prestigious honor.
