Illinois Football Recruiting: West Virginia Offers Peyton Newell

2014 defensive tackle/tight end Peyton Newell received an offer from the West Virginia Mountaineers on January 3rd. This now brings his total number of offers to twenty-one.

The other teams that have offered at Newell include: Kansas, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, TCU, Tulsa, and UCLA.

Newell is a 6’3″, 270 pound “iron man,” but is being recruited as an defensive tackle. He is from Hiawatha, Kansas and plays at Hiawatha High School.

Hiawatha made it to the Kansas State Playoffs (Class 3A) this past season. They lost to Silver Lake, 63-26, in the second round.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Kansas, 11th among defensive tackle, and 143rd overall in the Class of 2014 by 247Sports.
