Illinois Fighting Illini in the NFL: Week 16

Week 16 of the NFL season concluded with an NFC West match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.

Here is how some of Illinois’ former players fared during this week.

Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers – Mendenhall played for the first time since November 25th. He had 11 carries for 50 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brandon Moore, OG, New York Jets - Moore and the rest of the Jets’ offensive line had a tough time against the San Diego Chargers. Starting quarterback, Greg McElroy, was sacked eleven times for 71 yards in the loss this Sunday.

Kelvin Hayden, CB, Chicago Bears – Hayden combined on three tackles and returned an interception 39 yards in the 28-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Brent was still inactive for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts – Davis recorded four tackles and intercepted one pass in the win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers – Liuget combined for five tackles this past weekend. He recorded three solo tackles, two sacks, and assisted on two tackles.

Arrelious Benn, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Benn did not play against the St. Louis Rams this weekend. He is on the IR due to a shoulder injury.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, New England Patriots - Lloyd was targeted twelve times by Tom Brady in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville. He caught six of those passes for 62 yards.

Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets – Cumberlands was not targeted a single time in Sunday’s loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints – Thomas had seven carries for 16 yards and caught seven passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions – In Saturday night’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Leshoure  had 15 carries for 46 yards and touchdown and caught three passes for 20 yards.

A.J. Jenkins, WR, San Francisco 49ers – Jenkins was inactive for Sunday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Martez Wilson, LB, New Orleans Saints – Wilson only recorded one tackle in the win on Sunday over the Dallas Cowboys.

Dave Diehl, OT, New York Giants – Dave Diehl and the rest of the Giants’ offensive line had a decent day against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Giants lost and Manning was sacked three times for 31 yards.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants – Weatherford punted the ball eight times for 416 yards in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans – Mercilus only recorded one assisted tackle in Sunday’s upset loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Alan Ball, CB, Houston Texans - Ball did not play Sunday against the Vikings due to a foot injury.

Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots - Wilson recorded a total of four tackles in the Patriots’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend.
