Illinois Football Recruiting: Demetrius Cherry Commits to Arizona State

2013 strong-side defensive end Demetrius Cherry made his choice on which team he wants to play for next season. On Monday, Cherry decided to commit to the Arizona Sun Devils. He choose the Sun Devils over offers from California, Fresno State, Illinois, Iowa State, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina State, San Diego State, San Jose State, and Washington State.

Cherry is a 6’6″, 265 pound junior college athlete from San Pablo, California. He played this past season for Contra Costa College.

This past season, Contra Costa College finished with an overall record of 8-3 and a Bay Valley Conference record of 5-0.

They defeated Monterey 39-25 in the Living Breath Foundation Bowl.

Demetrius Cherry recorded 29 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks this past year.

The three-star recruit is ranked 26th in the state of California, 11th among strong-side defensive ends, and 96th nationally among junior college recruits by 247Sports.

The Sun Devils now have 17 commitments from the class of 2013.
