Illinois picked up a hometown commitment this week. 2014 power forward Michael Finke choose to commit to the Illinois Fighting Illini after his unofficial visit on Wednesday. He choose the Illini over offers from Eastern Illinois, UIC, Illinois State, Iowa, Kansas State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
Loyola-Chicago, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, and Wisconsin-Green Bay were also interested.
Finke is a 6’9″, 210 pound power forward from Champaign, Illinois.
He currently plays his high school ball at Centennial High School. He scored 15 points in their game on Tuesday where Centennial defeated Urbana High School, 64-54.
According to ESPN, Finke is “a shot making finesse four man.”
He has a nice jump shot and a better hook shot off the spin move. He can also finish in the lane with his left hand.
Finke is ranked 8th in the state of Illinois, 16th among power forwards, and 18th in the Midwest region by ESPN.
This is the first commitment for the Fighting Illini from the class of 2014. They already have five players who have signed letters of intent from the class of 2013.
