Illinois Football Recruiting: Mike Smithburg Visits Kansas

2013 offensive guard Mike Smithburg will be visiting the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend. This will be his first visit of the season. However, this is one of two visits scheduled by Smithburg. Next weekend, he is set to visit the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Smithburg currently has offers from ten teams. It is projected that Kansas and Illinois are at the head of the pack.

Teams that have offered at him include: Illinois, Kansas, Akron, Florida International, Memphis, Northern Iowa, Old Dominion, South Florida, Western Kentucky, and Western Michigan.

Mike Smithburg played this season with Iowa Western Community College. This year was a great year for Smithburg and his team. They went a perfect 11-0 overall and 4-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

Iowa Western defeated Butler 27-7 for the NJCAA National Championship. On November 20th, Smithburg was named to the Midwest Football Conference First-Team All-Conference.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 6th in the state of Iowa, 4th among offensive guards, and 149th nationally among junior college recruits by 247Sports.

Mike Smithburg currently has three years or two seasons of eligibility left. This means that he still has a redshirted year available.
