Big Ten Bowl Schedule

Seven of the twelve Big Ten teams will get to play in a bowl game this season. Wisconsin won the Big Ten championship over Nebraska, making it two straight Big Ten championship game wins, and will play in the Rose Bowl. Nebraska was picked for the Capital One Bowl and will play the Georgia Bulldogs, who lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game.

It does not seem like much of a consolation prize for Nebraska as they will play a team that was one win from a BCS National Championship appearance. It will be interesting to see how the Big Ten fares this bowl season with most of their opponents being from the SEC and Big 12.

  • Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas – Minnesota (6-6) vs. Texas Tech (7-5)
at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX
    Friday, December 28th – 8:00 pm (ESPN)
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl – TCU (7-5) vs. Michigan State (6-6)
at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ
    Saturday, December 29th – 9:15 pm (ESPN)
  • Gator Bowl – Mississippi State (8-4) vs. (20)Northwestern (9-3)
at Everbank Field in Jacksonville, FL
    Tuesday, January 1st – 11:00 am (ESPN2)
  • Heart of Dallas Bowl – Purdue (6-6) vs. Oklahoma State (7-5)
at Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX
    Tuesday, January 1st – 11:00 am (ESPNU)
  • Outback Bowl – (10)South Carolina (10-2) vs. (18)Michigan (8-4)
at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL
    Tuesday, January 1st – 12:00 pm (ESPN)
  • Capital One Bowl – (7)Georgia (11-2) vs. (16)Nebraska (10-3)
at Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL
    Tuesday, January 1st – 12:00 pm (ABC)
  • Rose Bowl (BCS) -Wisconsin (8-5) vs. (6)Stanford (11-2)
at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, CA
    Tuesday, January 1st – 4:00 pm (ESPN)

The three most interesting games will be the Outback Bowl, Gator Bowl, and Rose Bowl. All of these games have a Big Ten team playing against ranked major-conference foes. Michigan plays ranked South Carolina from the SEC, Nebraska plays ranked Georgia from the SEC, and Wisconsin plays ranked Stanford from the Pac-12.

It will be fun to see how the Cornhuskers respond in their bowl game. After being blown out by Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship, they will play Georgia. Georgia showed in the SEC championship that they are good enough to be in the national title, but just could not out last Alabama.
