After giving up five runs in two innings, the bullpen, led by Mat Milroy, picked up Josh Ferry by only allowing one run in their seven innings of work. Matt Milroy shut down the Hoosiers, striking out 10 batters in five Innings to help lead the Illini to their 11-6 win on Sunday.
Not only the bullpen, but the offense stepped up by matching Indiana’s five runs in the first two innings. Also a five run explosion including Justin Parr’s grand slam in the sixth inning helped the Illini pull away. Parr was 7-13, while shortstop Thomas Lindauer was 5-12 in the series and both led the team to take two of the three games in the series.
The Illini improved their overall record to 17-12 and are now 3-3 in Big Ten conference play. They face Eastern Illinois on Tuesday before they play Missouri at Busch Stadium, and Purdue on the road this week.
