After defeating Bradley on Wednesday, the Illinois baseball team improved its record to 12-10 and has won eight of their last 13 games. They hope to carry their momentum into their home opener today against Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU).
The Illini are 4-0 in their last four home openers and will have their number one pitcher, junior Kevin Johnson (RHP, 4-1, 2.92 ERA) on the mound to open the weekend series, who has won four consecutive starts.
While Illinois has been playing well of late, the same cannot be said for MVSU. They are 6-20 on the year and have hit just .225 as a team this season. MVSU will try to stop the Illini’s momentum and create some momentum of their own. This is the first time ever that Illinois and MVSU have matched up against each other.
