Big Ten/ACC Challenge Matchups Set

Illinois will play the Maryland Terrapins in the 13th edition of the Big Ten - ACC Challenge.

The pairings for the 2011 Big Ten/ACC Challenge were announced today. Illinois drew Maryland, and they will play the Terrapins on the road at the Comcast Center. The Illini have faced the Terrapins three times before in the Challenge with Maryland winning all three meetings. The Illini are hoping that they can reverse the trend this time around, but the Illinois team that travels to College Park will be a young one. Can the Illini overcome the veteran Terrapins who are, by many counts, underrated this preseason after underperforming last season and having to find a new head coach to replace the retired Gary Williams? Only time will tell.

The full pairings are listed below. The times for the games has yet to be decided. The ACC leads the challenge series 10-2 in its 12 year history, but the Big Ten has won the last two meetings. With Nebraska joining the Big Ten this year, all 12 teams from both conferences will play for the first time, opening the possibility for a series tie.
